Iskele (İskele in Turkish, Tricomo Τρίκωμο in Greek) is the administrative center and the district with the same name, a part of the Karpaz peninsula, famous for its untouched nature, with the best sandy beaches and olive groves in Cyprus, ancient churches, monasteries and ruins of ancient settlements. Iskele is an ideal place for everyone who wants to be closer to the nature and is looking for peace and quietness.
Iskele is located along the famous Long Beach and is the largest settlement between the city of Famagusta and the Karpaz peninsula. The long sandy beaches of Long Beach are the longest on the Eastern coast of Cyprus, and is washed by the waters of the azure Mediterranean and can be compared to the beaches of Nice, where, as everyone knows, all the beaches are pebble. The distinctive feature of the local coastline is the flat entrance to the sea. That's why, Long Beach is considered as the best place to stay with small and school-age children.

In the central area of Iskele, not far from the municipality, there is a local market, which operates every Friday from 7 am to 19 pm. During the season, the easiest way to get there is to take a local bus, which stops right at the beach. The assortment of the market is truly limitless: fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts and dried fruits, cheeses, olive oil, olives, fish, clothing and household goods. This real oriental bazaar has its constant popularity with residents and holidaymakers. Here, you can hear a variety of languages: Turkish, English, Ukrainian, Polish, Farsi and, of course, Russian, in which many vendors can gladly support the conversation.
The municipality of Iskele carries out numerous cultural events: the harvest festival and agriculture, days of cultures of other countries, music festivals and the traditional festival dedicated to the Iskele region.
The most famous sights in the Iskele region are the Byzantine Church of St. James (5th century) and the Church of the Holy Virgin Mary (Panagina Theotokos), dating back to the 12th century, where the Iskele Museum of Iskele and the Kantara Castle on the Kyrenia mountain ridge are situated. This special atmosphere of peace and tranquility, as well as a magnificent view of the sea, attracts many tourists to the region.
